This Sunday, Feb. 17, Rev. Dana kicks off this year’s UUA Common Read with her sermon, entitled “Connected to the Earth, Connecting with Each Other.” The Unitarian Universalist Association’s Common Read for this year is “Justice on Earth: People of Faith Working at the Intersections of Race, Class, and the Environment.” This collection of essays by multiple UU authors makes clear the essence of the intersectionality of justice movements that have for too long been compartmentalized and sometimes seen as competing.
Our service will kick off the opportunity for us at UUCV to do as hundreds of congregations across the nation are doing, to read the book in whole or in any of its several parts, to chat about it during coffee hour, and to join in
one of two discussion sessions: Sunday, March 3, 11:30 am to 1 pm facilitated by Krista Mendelsohn, or Tuesday, March 5, 6:30 to 8 pm facilitated by Jim Merrill in the Sanctuary. Books are available for purchase in the bookstore, or to borrow in the conference room. Please contact Krista at firstname.lastname@example.org if you require childcare for either session.
