Publicity and Social Media

Sharing Information about Events

Most of our publicity for the church in the wider community comes from social media, and through press releases and media advisories.  Work with the Publicity Coordinator, Kitty Merrill, to send information out to the appropriate media a couple of weeks prior to your event.

The church also has a Facebook page, Unitarian Universalist Church of Ventura, where we list events and information. Information about Lift Up Your Voice events are also posted on the Facebook page, Lift Up Your Voice to End Homelessness.

Post Event Publicity

Did you have a great event, but the media missed it? Consider writing a paragraph or two that we can submit as community news to the VC Star.

Communicating with one Another

If you are at an event with other UUs, take a picture and share it! You can post it in our Facebook Group – Unitarian Universalist Facebook of Ventura – for group members to enjoy. (UUCV members and friends are invited to join the group. There’s a button to request membership.)

Ventura UU folks use the group to share news of interest, ask for rides, and have community building chats.  Gretchen Buck, evan austin and Kitty Merrill are the moderators of this unofficial page. (Even though it’s unofficial, the moderators request that your behavior on the page be governed by our Right Relations Covenant.)

The content of this website is also part of the publicity coordinator’s portfolio. If there’s something that you think should be added or changed, Kitty Merrill can be contacted at uucv-pr at
