The Thursday morning book group, which reads non-fiction, continues to be well-attended by a diverse group of readers. About half of the regulars are members of UUCV and about half are from the communities of Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo and Ojai. It is an open group.
Drop in for a single session, come when you can, or come regularly. All are welcome.
We mostly read non-fiction with such notable books as: The Invention of Nature, Alexander Von Humboldt’s New World by Andrea Wulf, Between the World and Me by Ta-Nahisi Coates, The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown, Black Man in a White Coat: A Doctor’s Reflections on Race and Medicine by Damon Tweedy, M.D., A Full Life: Reflections at Ninety by Jimmy Carter and Frederick Douglass, by Blight. All of these excellent books have led to lively and interesting discussions.
