The Ventura Homeless Prevention Fund (VHPF) is a combined, local effort on the part of Catholic Charities, Project Understanding, The Salvation Army, United Way Ventura County and Lift Up Your Voice!

ZERO administration fees on the part of our fiscal agent - United Way Ventura County - allows VHPF to utilize 100% of EVERY dollar toward direct services that PREVENT homelessness.

The need for one-time assistance to those who are experiencing an extraordinary hardship has grown significantly with the downturn in the economy. Every month we are seeing an increase in the number of people who need a helping hand to get through a difficult time and maintain their housing.

Medical bills, an unexpected major auto repair, theft of rent money, foreclosure, temporary job loss and delay in disability payment are the most frequent incidents that place people on the verge of homelessness.

The VHPF can prevent 50% of homelessness by keeping those who have housing housed. Doing what we can to prevent those who have housing from becoming homeless is the best use of resources.
