About Lift Up Your Voice PDF Print E-mail

Lift Up Your Voice is a collaborative effort intended to prevent, and ultimately end, homelessness.

Every day in the City of Ventura, there are approximately 600 people who are homeless: An additional 21,000 men, women and children are at risk of becoming homeless.

We believe that everyone has a place in the plan to end homelessness and invite you to explore by asking yourself, What's my place in the plan to end homelessness?

If you have any questions or want to get involved Contact LUYV.

We Believe . . .

  • People who are homeless are part of the solution.
  • Homeless people and their circumstances are not criminal.  A homeless person should not be cited for loitering, sleeping in their car or sleeping in a park when the community provides no alternative.
  • Ventura has long needed a year ‘round shelter and transitional housing. There are no permanent shelter beds for the combined 300,000 population of Oxnard and Ventura.
  • We can end homelessness in the City of Ventura with strong community leadership and the willingness of the city to dedicate a small fraction of  the community’s resources, capability and knowledge to solve this problem.

Lift Up Your Voice is made possible by funding from the McCune Foundation, The Fund for Unitarian Universalist Social Responsibility and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ventura.
